What is CAOS?
Cambridgeport Artists Open Studios is an annual presentation of artists in the Cambridgeport neighborhood of Cambridge, MA. A surprising number of artists have made this neighborhood home and workplace. CAOS is an opportunity to visit artists in their workspaces. Artists of all levels participate in open studios. For some, it is a first showing, For others, it is an opportunity to show work they might not show in a gallery--experiments and explorations. For all of us it is an opportunity to make connections. A map and list of artists and performers guides visitors through the studios of about 80 artists. The map will be available for download from this website and at neighborhood locations. Studios are marked by numbers and big yellow balloons.

Where is Cambridgeport?
The area includes Central Square and runs to Memorial Drive along the Charles River including the blocks from Western Ave to Waverly Streets. It is accessible by T to Central Square. Permit parking is waived for these days.

Who is CAOS?
Any visual or performing artist who lives or works in Cambridgeport may participate. Registration forms for artists wishing to participate in CAOS are on line. Each March we hold a public meeting in which artists interested in participating in the following fall's Open Studios may vote on the date, fees, and the rules that will govern that year's event. Our calendar of meetings, deadlines, and the event itself are published on-line in April. Open Studios is an artist-run, all-volunteer organization.

Is it CAOS, or CHAOS? Well…hmmm…it’s just an acronym…
